Brainspotting is effective for a wide variety of emotional and somatic conditions. Brainspotting is particularly effective with trauma-based situations, helping to identify and heal underlying trauma that contributes to anxiety, depression and other behavioral conditions." "Brainspotting gives the therapist access to both brain and body processes. Its goal is to bypass the conscious, neocortical thinking to access the deeper, subcortical emotional and body-based parts of the brain." https://brainspotting.com/ "Clients often fall into two categories. The first being those who are seeking therapy for the first time. The second are people who have been in therapy before who are seeking a therapist with new techniques. " https://brainspotting.com/
Have you heard about Rapid eye movement (REM) sleep? Research shows that REM sleep plays a key roll in being able to process information in the brain. Lots of people have heard the phase "just sleep on it" or something similar. Maybe you have even had this experience first hand? Have you ever fell asleep mad about a topic and woke up less mad; sort of like the problem solved itself over night?
During a brainspotting sessions clients will wear headphones during the session. You can bring your own non-noise canceling headphones so that you can hear the music and my voice at the same time or many clients use the office "bonephones" which do not go in your ear. I will have you listen to bilateral music (fancy word meaning both sides/left and right side) while processing in session. We will follow your body and brain in session and allow them to lead us to a place of healing.
Although Brainspotting can treat a wide range of psychological diagnosis its founding use was to treat clients with trauma and anxiety. Dr David Grand discovered brainspotting while doing EMDR with a client. He noticed that when the client held her eyes in one location she did deeper work than she was doing with EMDR. You can find her whole story in the book "Brainspotting: The Revolutionary New Therapy for Rapid Effective Change and Emotional Healing at Warp Speed"
