I am excited that you have taken time to learn more about me and what I do. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been in private practice for 8 years. I grew up in Baton Rouge and have lived in Ascension Parish for the past 13 years. I have 2 daughters who attended school in the parish. My oldest is a recent LSU graduate and my youngest is still enrolled. (Geaux Tigers!).
I view counseling as a collaborative approach in which together, as patient and therapist, we work as a team to explore and define the present problem, develop future goals, and work in a systematic fashion towards reaching these goals. I use a variety of approaches including principles from Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, and Play Therapy. Each client has different needs and my approach is customized to your individual experiences and needs.
I work with a wide variety of clients including individuals, teenagers (ages 12 and up), and families. I sometimes work with couples on parenting issues, but I DO NOT provide marriage or couples counseling.
I love working with clients and get excited when I see positive changes they have made. I have worked with adults and adolescents who are struggling with symptoms of stress, depression, grief, and relationships struggles. I have given them the tools and insight they needed to heal from the past and move forward in their lives. I specialize in working with clients of all ages who struggle with ANXIETY and clients who are LGBTQ. I have anxiety myself and have learned how to cope with it in healthy ways. I want to share my knowledge with my clients so that they too can learn to manage their anxiety.
I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology, and a Master of Education degree in Counselor Education both from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA. I hold the following licenses and certifications:
